Research trips – they’re a tough gig but someone’s gotta do it

I knew that my debut novel was going to be set in the Riverina district of NSW. But I also knew that it had to be authentic. There was only so much desk research I could do. It wasn’t enough to look at a couple of homesteads on Google Maps and do a bit of googling of plants and animals in the area. I wanted to smell the cut lucerne and the diesel.
